NASHVILLE, TN Monday Apr.3.2006 / -- Chris Cagle feels that because of some of the mistakes he made early in his career, he may have lost some respect from some of his peers.

"When I was on the road with [Brooks & Dunn], I was very young in my career, and I think I lost some respect honestly because I was drinking every night," Chris told Blair Garner Tuesday morning on After MidNite.

"I mean, they don't snub me, you know what I'm saying? But I think that, in my youth, in my recklessness in that regard 'I'm here for the party' you've got to realize, here's a five-act show that I'm second on, and I'm done by 6:30 or seven depending on venue, and then, radio's everywhere. So it's like every night, it's the one time of the year the Neon Circus is in town. It's every night for me, but it's the one time of the year that the radio guys are going, 'Hey, let's have a beer. Hey, let's have a beer. Hey, let's have a beer,' and by nine o'clock, I'm like, 'I don't want it anymore.'"

Chris says that over the years, he's learned his lesson. "Bottom line is, people like that, you have to earn their respect in a certain way."
