TORONTO, CANADA Wednesday May.17.2006 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- Sum 41 has lost its lead guitarist.

Last week, Dave "Brownsound" Baksh announced he was leaving Sum 41 to focus on a new music project. Baksh is forming a metal band called Brown Brigade, reports ChartAttack.com.

"The main message of Brown Brigade is peace, love and positivity," Baksh said.

Besides Baksh on guitar, Brown Brigade consists of bassist Vaughn Lal, drummer Lee Fairlea, and The Craigulator on guitar. The band is currently writing songs and looking for a singer.

Baksh left Sum 41 on friendly terms with the other members, who were not surprised by his departure.

In a message on the band's official web site, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley said, "The fact is Dave lost interest a long time ago. Not to take any credit away from him, but he really didn't have anything to do with this band creatively for a long time."

Whibley added, "We will miss Dave a lot. And we don't plan on replacing him."

For those of you wondering how Dave's departure will affect Sum 41's next album, Whibley says not to worry.

"Don't worry, Sum 41 is still Sum 41 and will sound the way we always have," Whibley writes. "We're just bummed we won't get to share the same stage with Dave anymore."

Sum 41 is currently recording the follow-up to 2004's "Chuck."
