DETROIT, MI Monday Jun.12.2006 / -- Stevie Wonder and gospel artist Kirk Franklin will perform at an event marking the 40th anniversary of Detroit's deadly riots, reports the Associated Press.

The concert is part of a 40-day observance of the 1967 riots and will take place on July 27, 2007 at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions football team.

The 1967 riots lasted five days and killed 43 people.

Organizers of the anniversary concert say that along with Stevie Wonder and Kirk Franklin, additional artists will be added to the lineup and will be announced as they are confirmed.
