SAN FRANCISCO, CA Friday Jun.16.2006 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- D4L, the Black Eyed Peas, Chamillionaire, and T-Pain have all achieved Platinum status - for ring tones.

The Recording Industry Association of America has started recognizing artists with its traditional Gold and Platinum designations for the sales of ring tones, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. To be certified Gold, artists must sell 500,000 ring tone downloads. At least 1 million ring tone downloads must be sold to achieve the RIAA's Platinum designation.

Among the artists to reach multi-Platinum status are D4L with "Shake that Laffy Taffy," the Black Eyed Peas with "My Humps;" Chamillionaire for "Ridin'" and T-Pain for "I'm N Love (Wit a Stripper)."
