NASHVILLE, TN Tuesday Jun.27.2006 / -- Julie Roberts' sophomore album, "Men & Mascara" hits the streets today, June 27th.

Julie's new single, "Girl Next Door," went for adds at radio on Monday. Julie tells us she liked this late-comer to the album because it felt like her story.

"It is my story all the way, in that I worked as the receptionist (Mercury/MCA Records) and Luke's (Luke Lewis, label head) assistant for three years and the song is about this girl who's looking at the cheerleader and the prom queen and she's in the marching band and secretly wanting to be that cheerleader and homecoming queen and she's in the band thinking she isn't as good as that person. And, I can relate to that because I was behind the desk."

Julie continues, "For three years I was working for Shania and Lee Ann Womack and Reba and they were the cheerleaders and prom queens to me. And I wanted to be them. (But) I was 20 pounds heavier than I am now and didn't know how to get them to listen to my music," Julie explains.
