LOS ANGELES, CA Monday Jan.8.2007 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- Word is Amazon may be offering DRM-free MP3's to compete with Apple's iTunes, and considering the size and scope of Amazon, it very well may happen.

The new DRM-free movement is based on the fiscal projection that in 2007, we will see slipping or flat sales in the digital marketplace.

EMusic and Limewire have already gone DRM-free, and Sony BMG and EMI Music Group are taking it for a test-drive, offering "promotional experiments" that could mean bye-bye to DRM if they prove their worth.
