Country stars build their fan base in various ways, such as opening for bigger stars attracting some of the headliner's audience to their music. And, they hit the road a lot headlining their own shows.
The advantage, of course, is the fans that come to a club or a theater show, are there to see the headling act, what you could call their "pure fans." And that's exactly what PHIL VASSAR has been doing in recent years. He lines up big theaters and fills them up with his loyal fans, and grows is base by pleasing them and the friends they brought along with them. Phil Vassar.
Vassar rang up consecutive sell-outs in Annapolis, MD; Harrisburg, PA; and Atlantic City, NJ this past weekend (Jan. 18 to Jan. 20), packing theater venues to capacity and blowing off some roofs. The SRO weekend comes as no surprise to Vassar's fans, nor to music critics.
His latest Arista release Greatest Hits Vol. 1 landed on Top 10 of 2006 lists by the New York Times, Pittsburgh Post Gazette and CMT. The disc's No. 1 single "Last Day of My Life" was the fastest rising chart-topper of his career.
Vassar is currently working on a new studio album, due for release this year.
