It wasnıt his biggest concert of the year, or even on his extensive tour schedule, but Brad said to his crowd at the show Monday night, ³This is the most important concert I will play all year, We wanted to bring a little party to you before your next deployment.²
Bradıs audience was a 35,000 plus crowd made up of military personnel and their families a Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The crowd got the full show from Brad plus his opening artists, KELLIE PICKLER and TAYLOR SWIFT.
NOTE: Besides the reward of playing for a crowd thatıs sacrificing perhaps more than other Americans these days, Paisley received a special plaque commemorating the event. The framed piece bares an inscription noting that it is from the soldiers and families of Fort Campbelland it features a panoramic photo of the commanding general of Fort Campbell and all onsite soldiersthe Division Review, which occurs every two yearstaken in May on the very site of Mondayıs concert.
The plaque is signed by the commanding general, Major General Jeffrey J. Schloesser, and also includes a couple of his coinsrare, specially minted pieces that the officer can give to someone as a show of appreciation for ³acts of exceptional service, achievement or special recognition of a job well done, or for unique contributions towards the accomplishment of the Armyıs mission.²
Their significance in military culture is substantialthey are usually reserved for presentation to Army or Defense Department personnel as a personal acknowledgment by the general.
