NEW YORK, NY Thursday Oct.11.2007 /netmusiccountdown.com/ --
Screen Gems, the studio behind Chris Brown's upcoming movie "This Christmas," has put together an "American Idol"-like singing contest that will be co-hosted by radio stations in 35 markets this weekend. Contestants will have one minute to sing either "This Christmas" or "Silent Night." The 35 winners will tape performances for AOL Black Voices starting October 19.
The public will vote for their favorite singer, with voting ending October 24. The three semifinalists will be flown to New York to sing on "106 & Park." Viewers will then vote online and the winner will be announced on the show November 1.
The winner will get a trip to New York to perform on a "This Christmas" holiday special with Brown, David Banner, Columbus Short and other actors from the movie, which opens November 21.
