Rapper had to wait till the time was right.
DETROIT, MI Tuesday Mar.16.2004 /netmusiccountdown.com/ --
Sleepy Brown says he tried to make his solo career happen a few times before hitting it big with his single "I Can't Wait." Sleepy spent the last ten years helping out fellow rappers like Oukast, Ludacris, TLC, and Roscoe make names for themselves, and now it's his time to shine.
"I've tried, man. I've tried to drop a couple of albums before. I guess I just had to wait for my time," Sleepy says. "I've been trying for years. I just never had that song that jumped up. But now that it's my time everything is happening so fast. I'm glad it's happening like that."
Sleepy's new album, "For the Grown and Sexy," is due in stores on June 1st.
