Singer's famous gospel family supports his secular music.
SPRINGFIELD, MO Thursday May.6.2004 /netmusiccountdown.com/ --
BET recently asked Mario Winans whether there were any conflicts between his family being gospel artists (Winans is Vickie Winans' son) and him being a secular R&B artist. The "I Don't Wanna Know" singer replied, "No conflicts, just missing my family. They are supportive because they understand that in life there's situations in gospel music you sing about as far as being in a church and our relationship with God, but Monday through Saturday we all live normal lives." Winans adds, "There are situations that we go through and we need understanding. I just choose those things to sing about, but I have a line that I don't cross."
Winans' approach is working. His latest album "Hurt No More" is climbing the charts and is currently No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hopô album chart.
