LOS ANGELES, CA Thursday Aug.26.2004 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- There's an award for albums that receive critical acclaim but don't achieve commercial success. It's called the Shortlist Music Prize.

The Shortlist Music Prize is awarded annually, with the winner receiving $10,000. Earlier this week, the Shortlist Organization announced its "Long List," which includes 73 artists nominated for the prize. Some of the artists making the Long List include Franz Ferdinand, PJ Harvey, The Killers, Loretta Lynn, Macy Gray, Nellie McKay, Wilco, Bebel Gilberto, Belle and Sebastian, Patti Smith and Neil Young.

In late September, the Long List will be narrowed down to ten finalists. The Shortlist Music Prize winner will be announced at a concert on November 10 in Los Angeles.
