SANTA MONICA, CA Thursday Nov.18.2004 / -- An arrest warrant has been issued for the rapper Young Buck in connection to a fight that broke out at Monday night's Vibe Awards show. Based on a videotape of the incident, Santa Monica police believe Buck (a.k.a. David Darnell Brown) stabbed a man who had attacked rapper-producer Dr. Dre.

According to MTV, Dre's attacker -- 26-year-old Jimmy James Johnson -- pretended to want an autograph, but then began punching Dr. Dre in the head. Security personnel rushed to restrain Johnson. But the situation became a melee when several others jumped in and began fighting. Johnson was stabbed in the chest, causing his lung to collapse, and he was rushed to the hospital.

A videotape of the fight shows Young Buck and two other men with knives. At a press conference on Tuesday, the Santa Monica Police Chief said, "Mr. Brown is seen lunging over another male and swinging the knife at Mr. Johnson's upper body while Johnson is looking away from him." The Chief of Police also said that Young Buck "is clearly depicted holding the knife after the assault and is one of a number of fight participants sprayed by pepper spray."

After the fight, police say Buck "fled the scene." He is now wanted for assault with a deadly weapon. Police are asking the rapper, who has had several arrests in Nashville, to turn himself in.

Dr. Dre appeared to be all right after the incident, which occurred just before he was presented with The Vibe Legend Award. The fight was removed from UPN's Vibe Awards broadcast on Tuesday.
