CHICAGO, IL Friday Nov.19.2004 / -- For rapper Shawnna, music has always been a part of her life. You could even say it's in her blood.

The Chicago native, whose full name is Rashawnna Guy, is the daughter of Grammy-Award-winning blues guitarist, Buddy Guy. Shawnna's also a member of Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace (DTP) crew, and she was part of the hip-hop duo, Infamous Syndicate (IS). "Worth the Weight" is Shawnna's first solo album.

On her official Web site, Shawnna talks about some of the songs that first inspired her. Says the rapper, "I've always been into music. I wrote my first rhyme when I heard Ice Cube's 'Back at the Beach.' I had already been turned on to 'It Takes Two' and Salt & Pepa's "Push it", stuff like that. But when Ice Cube dropped 'Back at the Beach,' it was over. From there when I was in school, I was getting referrals because I'm not doing my work. I'm writing raps."
