NEW YORK, NY Tuesday Dec.14.2004 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- U2 has made history again. Yesterday, December 13, it was announced that the Irish rock band will be among the 2005 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Other artists to be inducted at the 20th Annual Induction Ceremony include Chicago blues guitarist Buddy Guy, soul singer Percy Sledge, The O'Jays and The Pretenders. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony takes place March 14 in New York City at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

U2 formed in 1976 and released its debut album, "Boy," twenty-five years ago. Artists are eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after releasing their first album.
