LOS ANGELES, CA Tuesday Apr.26.2005 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- Green Day has filmed the video for its next single, "Wake Me Up When September Ends," reports MTV.com.

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" is unique for Green Day because it's one of the band's most personal songs. Billie Joe Armstrong wrote the track about the passing of his father.

Samuel Bayer, who worked with the band on the other three videos for "American Idiot," directed the clip. In an interview with MTV, the director explained, "I presented my concept to Billie Joe, because I know the song is personal to him, and he loved that it's all about youth and dreams and bonds that get broken."

Bayer continued, "We wanted to make a mini-movie about a boy and a girl that fall in love and have the rest of their lives ahead of them, but the boy joins the Army and leaves her behind to go to war. It's my interpretation of Billie Joe's very personal song."

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" was filmed in Los Angeles and includes appearances by actors Jamie Bell from "Billy Elliot" and Evan Rachel Wood from "Thirteen."
