NASHVILLE, TN Thursday Apr.28.2005 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- Folks are getting the first pre-release listen to Toby Keith's new CD "Honkytonk University," and it's like a graduate course in where Toby Keith has been musically the last year or two or so.

He has a hand in writing all 12 cuts, wrote two alone, one with Chuck Cannon and nine with his favorite writer and friend, Scotty Emerick (two of which Dean Dillon helped write).

Not surprising the collection feels like vintage (21st Century) Keith with some of his best, most effective vocals yet. An immediate standout is "She Ain't Hooked On Me No More," a Keith/Emerick collaboration that sounded so much like vintage Haggard, Toby got Merle in studio with him to turn it into a duet on which Haggard sound great. This
song got Toby to conclude, "This is probably the most old school album I've done, this just fits the tone so well."
