DETROIT, MI Wednesday Jul.13.2005 / -- The White Stripes are ready to rock, and they're hitting the road to prove it.

The blues-rock, garage duo from Detroit, Michigan is launching a two-month, North American tour that begins on August 6 in George, Washington and ends with a two-night stand at Detroit's Masonic Temple October 1-2.

Prior to the official start of the tour, Jack and Meg White will play an intimate show on July 28 at the Glass House in Pomona, California. The following day, the White Stripes head to San Diego to play the San Diego Street Scene festival.

Some of the acts scheduled to join the White Stripes on tour include Sleater-Kinney, The Shins, M. Ward, Brendan Benson and the Greenhornes.

The White Stripes are on the road to promote their new album, "Get Behind Me Satan."
