HATTIESBURG, MS Friday Nov.25.2005 /netmusiccountdown.com/ --
Jeff Bates returned to Mississippi on November 18 for a concert in Hattiesburg near his hometown of Bunker Hill for a special benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina Relief.
Bates partnered with Randy Carter of Randy Carter Construction to organize the event with the proceeds going to the local Salvation Army chapter.
A crowd of over 4,500 attended the event and raised $25,000 which Bates presented to the Salvation Army after the concert. This is the largest contribution that this chapter has ever received and they confirmed that they will keep the money for use in the Pine Belt area of Mississippi.
"I was so moved to perform a concert in my home state of Mississippi and be able to give back to the community that will always have a special place in my heart," said Bates. "I am so overwhelmed by my fans' generosity who donated their hard-earned money to help those in need."
