VANCOUVER, BC Thursday Jan.19.2006 / -- After the death of frontman Michael Hutchence, it looked like the end of INXS.

But last year, the remaining band members staged a comeback through the reality TV show Rock Star, where they began a search for a new singer. Canadian singer JD Fortune is the man who landed the job.

Guitarist/keyboardist Andrew Farriss told that the band knew they needed someone a frontperson who wasn't just a great singer, but also a great entertainer and communicator. "Somebody who could reach out to people and touch people, and JD is doing that," said Farriss.

Last night, INXS officially kicked off its world tour from Vancouver in support of its new album "Switch." The North American portion of the tour runs through February 26th.
